I’ve stayed at a Gershwin in Denver and it was quite nice, the architecture of the building once you were inside was the most memorable thing. It was once gigantic room with the rooms around the edges spiraling up and up. Another budget place to check is Hotel 17 - 01 212 475 2845 and The Pod Hotel - 01 212 355 0300, which is designed to give you a bit of style for your money. I can also suggest Incentra Village House - 01 212 206 0007 and Comfort Inn Midtown - 01 212 221 2600. Those hotels are a few that will hopefully give you some reasonable deals, even if it is at the last minute.
